Painting - Quarter 2 Reflection
The only painting i’m actually proud of is my Cubism painting. I took my time and asked questions as to what colors to use and how to use them. I feel that I did a good job blending colors and using multiples of the same colors in the same areas on the color wheel. The message in a bottle floating through the ocean was a good choice for me as I was able to learn to make the color and sky blend but still making it look like two different objects. By far this painting best suits me.
Keeping a steady hand is a bit of a challenge for me. I feel that most of my paintings turn out as if an elementary schooler has done it. The whole concept of “value” still confuses me a little bit. Every project that I work on I always ask “what is value?” but i’m never able to realize whether or not i’m getting value in the painting. Getting done on time can be challenging with the amount of days i’ve been absent. I feel that painting is based off consistency and is hard to keep up with the projects if someone is absent a certain amount of days. My paintings are envisioned to be perfect in my mind, but as we all know; nobody is perfect. Looking at another picture while trying to paint it sort of puts a different mind-set in your head as to how the outcome will be. But as long as all of your effort is put forth into the project it should turn out somewhat how you thought it would.
I would love to paint any sort of scenery. I think scenery paintings are beautiful and relaxing to paint. Coming into first hour painting is a great way to start off a typical school day. Painting a beautiful picture of a sunset in the morning would be nice and relaxing and I feel I would be able to take my time and get any sort of details in the painting that are necessary rather than just coming in class thinking “alright I just want to finish this painting and be done with it.” because that’s when my projects don’t turn out as expected.
